A police operation in Hatia, Noakhali has recovered 1,800 liters of stolen diesel and 200 liters of mobile phones from the pontoon of the ferry ghat. Police have arrested one person in this incident. The estimated value of the recovered oil and mobile phones is Tk 3,27,000.Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kabir Hossain confirmed the matter in a press release on Monday (September 7) afternoon. Earlier, on Saturday night around 10:15 pm, based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted on the eastern side of the ferry pontoon of Ward No. 1 of Charishwar Union of the upazila and the oil was seized.Arrested Md. Zaker Uddin (35) is the son of Khorshed Alam of Talukder village of Talukder village of Charishwar Union of the upazila.Police said that on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on the ferry pontoon on the east side of Nalchira Ghat in Charishwar Union of the upazila at around 10:15 pm on Saturday. During the raid, Shahed Uddin Prakash Tel Shahed (28), Md. Riaz Uddin (32) and 3 to 4 other unidentified persons escaped. During the raid, 720 liters of diesel were recovered in four large tin drums, 900 liters in 30 plastic jerry cans and 180 liters in 9 jerry cans. In addition, 200 liters of mobile phone were recovered in a large drum. The estimated value of the recovered 1,800 liters of diesel is Tk 2 lakh 7 thousand and the estimated value of the 200 liters of mobile phone is Tk 1 lakh 20 thousand, according to the police.Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kabir Hossain further said that 1,800 liters of diesel and 200 liters of mobile phone without valid documents were recovered and seized from the custody of the arrested accused. A case has been filed at Hatia Police Station in this incident.
