92,144 expatriates have registered on the 'Postal Vote BD' app to vote in the 13th National Parliament Election. Of them, 77,346 are men and 14,799 are women.
This information was revealed on the Election Commission (EC) website on Sunday (November 30) morning. This is the first time that the EC has taken the initiative to vote through IT-supported postal ballots. In this case, expatriates, persons in legal custody, and those responsible for voting will be able to vote in this system. For this, they will have to register on the app. Registration began on November 19, which will continue until December 23. Countries where registration is underway include South Korea, Japan, South Africa, China, Egypt, Mozambique, Libya, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Brazil, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Liberia, Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Algeria, Angola, Tanzania, Somalia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, South Sudan, Chile, Sierra Leone, Ecuador, Taiwan, Argentina, Australia, Central African Republic, Gambia, Peru, Zimbabwe, United States, Saudi Arabia, etc. The EC said that postal ballots will be sent to the addresses of those registered on the app. Voters will cast their votes and return them to the returning officer in a return envelope. Activities are underway with the target of drawing 5 million expatriate votes.
